Chapter 11 Pregnancy Exposed

  • While Henry looked at me in shock, I slowly rose to my feet, thanked the people one by one, and left the room.
  • After closing the door, the defenses that I had doggedly held on broke down immediately.
  • Some acquaintances asked me about the situation, but I did not say anything. After splitting the money with the manager at the counter, I left the bar in a hurry.
  • On the way back, I cried all the way. Even the taxi driver looked back to check on me.
  • He thought I had just broken up with my boyfriend and even tried to cheer me up.
  • When he dropped me off at the hospital, he assumed that a loved one of mine passed away, and he offered his condolences as I got out of the car.
  • The comfort provided by the stranger lifted my mood.
  • It was already late at night when I arrived at the hospital. I went to the inpatient department to pay, then leaned back on the bench outside the ward to rest.
  • When my mother-in-law woke me up the next morning, I felt pain in my back and hips.
  • As soon as I stood up, I felt dizzy, blacked out, and lost consciousness.
  • When I regained consciousness, I could hear the voices of doctors and my mother-in-law.
  • "For a woman in the early stages of pregnancy, minor anemia in her body may build up because of excessively strenuous activity. It's not a serious problem, but remember to eat more nutritious foods to nourish the body."
  • My heart skipped a beat when the pregnancy I had been trying hard to hide had been exposed.
  • After the doctor left, my mother-in-law looked at me and said, "How could you not know that you're pregnant?"
  • Even so, she could not hide the joy on her face.
  • "You'd better take good care of yourself; my grandson is still in your womb! Don't let the child be born with poor health because of your negligence. He'd better not be like Bobby…."
  • After saying that, she still felt uneasy. "I'll call Jeremy and ask him to take you home so that you can rest. The nurse and I can take care of Bobby, so don't worry! The main thing for you now is to take care of the one in your stomach."
  • "I…"
  • Before I said anything, my mother-in-law went to call Jeremy in a joyful mood.
  • My mother-in-law was the happiest person after hearing the news of my pregnancy. Now, she couldn't help but treat me like an empress.
  • However, I did not feel happy at all because the child in my stomach had nothing to do with Jeremy. I could not tell how he would react after knowing this.
  • Later in the afternoon, Jeremy rushed over to the hospital. Under the influence of my mother-in-law's joyful mood, Jeremy forced a crooked smile.
  • After a few perfunctory words, he dragged me out of the hospital.
  • Once we got into the car, the atmosphere instantly became gloomy.
  • Jeremy held the steering wheel so tightly that his fingers turned pale. He looked at me hatefully and said, "Samantha, I can't help but be impressed by how you manage to become pregnant with another man's child in only a few days."
  • I stared back at him defiantly. "Every day, your mother wants me to conceive a second child, but you don't even touch me. Do you expect me to produce my own sperm?"
  • It was sad that Jeremy had not considered my feelings in this marriage. I was deceived to be a beard wife, and I had to act as though we were in love in front of his family and friends. Which one of them understood my grievances?
  • After listening to me, Jeremy's facial expressions became extremely unpleasant.
  • "Samantha, don't forget why you married me in the first place."
  • Indeed, my mother was in a rush to find my brother a wife. She pretty much sold me to Jeremy for half a million dollars.
  • To this day, I still remember what my mother said when I got married. She said after I married Jeremy, no matter how good or bad the circumstances, I was not allowed to divorce. She could not afford to compensate him.
  • That was also the reason I did not immediately ask for a divorce when I found out that Jeremy was homosexual.
  • I leaned back in my seat, looked out the window, and said with determination, "I can promise you anything, but I must have this child."
