Chapter 6 Escaped From Death

  • The hands around my neck loosened when I finished.
  • "Say it again…"
  • I placed my hands over my neck, gasping for air. I almost cried from the joy of escaping death.
  • My throat was hurting from Henry's grasp. I had used up all my energy to say those words.
  • "You… understood what I said?" I said in my hoarse voice.
  • I could feel the pain in my throat with the utterance of each word.
  • "Last time, you slept with me. This time, I slept with you. Now, we are even."
  • After that, I picked up my clothes from the floor and started to put them on.
  • "You are the one from three years ago?" Henry stared at me sternly.
  • "Yes. Let's call this my revenge. We are square now."
  • It was not easy to speak with the pain in my throat. However, I could not find a better excuse.
  • "Stop!" I heard Henry's voice from my back when I was about to open the door.
  • I turned and saw he had put on his pants and one of his shirt sleeves.
  • I shot him a glance to ask him what was going on.
  • God knew how much I wanted to escape before this man finally understood what had happened. My hand was holding the doorknob tightly, and my body tensed up.
  • "My people are waiting for me outside. You can't get away," Henry smirked like he could read my mind.
  • Then, he walked toward me. I backed away and looked at him with full alertness.
  • His icy eyes bored into me. "I don't know whether you are bluffing. But you should make necessary prevention now. I don't want to have a bastard with you."
  • My face went pale hearing his words.
  • I could tell from his reaction that he hated children born out of wedlock. Therefore, I could never let him know about Bobby.
  • "I want to see you take the pills with my own eyes."
  • Hearing this, I was relieved because I had prepared for this.
  • I took out the Plan B box from my backpack and showed him. Then, I poured it directly into my mouth and took a few gulps from a water bottle.
  • I did it with a swift movement. "I don't want it either," I said hoarsely.
  • Then, I opened the door and left.
  • I had painstakingly prepared for this day.
  • The pill I took before Henry was only a vitamin pill.
  • On my way back, I bought a scarf to cover the bruises on my neck.
  • My mood was relatively good even though I had just escaped from death. After all, I got what I wanted.
  • However, when I arrived at the hospital, I was told that my mother-in-law had taken Bobby out of the hospital. Naturally, I panicked after hearing this.
  • Bobby's immune system was weak. Germs and viruses outside could get him infected. He was in great danger every time he had a fever.
  • I quickly made a phone call to my mother-in-law, but no one answered.
  • Feeling helpless, I called Jeremy Raynor, my husband.
  • "Jeremy, mom had taken Bobby out of the hospital. Do you know where she had taken him to?"
  • I almost burst into tears when I said this.
  • No one would understand my growing fear. I finally had a chance to save Bobby's life. I was afraid he could not last until that day because of my negligence.
  • "Mom brought Bobby to a famous holistic doctor whom she heard from her friend."
  • Jeremy's voice from the other end sounded unconcerned as if he was talking about something unrelated to him.
  • "Haven't I told you before? Do not bring Bobby to small clinics! Why would you do that? Don't you know Bobby could be in danger?"
  • I broke down and yelled over the phone.
  • "Samantha! You better watch what you are saying! My mum did it because she cared about Bobby. She has been kind enough to raise a bastard for you!"
