Chapter 10 You Committed Murder

  • At the same time, I felt a sense of pity for those people. They were treating human lives as nothing more than playthings.
  • Henry saw my reaction, and the smile on his lips gradually faded. He took the bow and arrows on the table, shoved them into my hands once again, leaned close to my ear, and said, "Death, or life? You choose."
  • I felt a chill run down my spine and spread throughout my body. Even though it was in the middle of summer, it felt like I was in the coldest ice house.
  • At that moment, I realized how terrifying the man I accidentally provoked turned out to be.
  • However, I had no way out of it, and for my precious Bobby, I chose life.
  • As I held up the bow and arrow, I was trembling with cold sweat dripping down. At some point, Henry came close behind me.
  • He walked around me, grabbed my hand, and slowly pulled the bow back to its maximum.
  • When Henry let go of my hand, I closed my eyes tightly and slipped along with Henry to the ground, as if I had collapsed.
  • At the same time, an excruciating scream sliced through the earphones.
  • I instantly broke down in shock, and I covered my eyes as I bawled. Panic nearly overwhelmed me.
  • I had... hurt someone with my hands...
  • Henry was not satisfied. He whispered vengefully into my ears, "Open your eyes and see for yourself. Your arrow pierced that person's chest, and there's blood everywhere… You killed him."
  • The last few words completely crushed my heart. I finally had enough. I turned around and violently shoved Henry away.
  • I screamed at him while my world crumbled around me, "Are you satisfied now, you bastard, you devil?
  • He grabbed my hand and said with a devilish voice, "Samantha, didn't you used to have the guts to drug me? What happened? You can't handle this?"
  • I knew that this was Henry's revenge, but it was crueler than I expected.
  • I thought I could hide myself in this big city full of people, that Henry would not be able to find me just like what happened three years ago.
  • I thought Henry would be quick to forget an insignificant person like me and never want to deal with each other again.
  • However, those were all just my imagination.
  • Because of my foolishness, I had taken another person's life.
  • Henry held my hand, dragged me over to the corpse, and pointed at it.
  • "See, he's dead. You killed him because you chose your own life."
  • He had revealed my selfish side for all to see, leaving me with nowhere to hide.
  • If it weren't for Bobby, I was willing to take my own life so that others would not get hurt. Even so, no excuse could hide the fact that I murdered someone.
  • I threw myself on my knees and apologized to the corpse, "It's all my fault. I'm sorry. I'll turn myself in."
  • I took out my phone to call the police.
  • Right before I could dial the number, Henry snatched the phone away from me.
  • "Give it back to me, Henry. I have committed murder, and I'm willing to take responsibility for it."
  • My eyes were bloodshot, and I scrambled over to take my phone back from Henry.
  • "Do you think I will let you call the police?" Henry said mockingly.
  • That was when I realized that if I called the police, everyone here, including Henry, would not escape the consequences. Or rather, everyone present was a murderer.
  • I turned around and looked at their faces of indifference. Some were even enjoying the show. All I felt was sadness and absurdity.
  • Those people were so cold-blooded and heartless!
  • Suddenly. The middle-aged foreigner from before said, "Mr. Quinn, please stop scaring the little lady. The show can end at this point."
  • Before I could come to my senses, the corpse in front of me stood up, pulled out the arrow on his body, and muttered, "Phew! I really gotta pee!"
  • After that, he ran out of the room.
  • It was then I realized that I had been played like a clown from the beginning.
  • Henry passed me a check and said contemptuously, "This is a hundred thousand for your participation. That was fascinating."
  • I clenched my fists tightly and fiercely pinched the palm of my hand with my fingers. The sharp pain stopped me from slapping Henry with the check in front of me.
  • In front of this man, my dignity was trampled to the ground.
  • Unfortunately for me, I needed the money. In this situation, dignity was worth nothing.
  • I forced a smile, took the check in his hand, and said respectfully, "Thank you, Mr. Quinn."
