- I woke up early the next morning with the sun coming through the curtains grey because rain still fell soft outside and my bed felt too big and empty without Genna beside me.
- I lay there a long minute, staring at the ceiling because sleep stayed away all night with her face in my mind when she walked out into the storm and the way she looked back once with tears running before she turned away forever.
