- Leonardo's POV
- I woke up at five-thirty because sleep never stayed long after Genna left my head spinning. I pulled on sweatpants, walked downstairs quiet so I would not wake Denise, went straight to the study. The house still felt asleep, only the birds outside making noise. I opened the door, stepped inside, stopped dead.
- The oil painting over the safe hung one inch crooked. I always left it perfect, always checked twice before bed. I crossed the room fast, swung the painting open, looked at the dial.
