Chapter 92 The Internship I

  • Darren’s shoes felt like blocks of stone as he forced one step after another into the bar. The smell of beer, sweat, and fried food hit him, making his stomach turn. Laughter and loud voices filled the air, but none of it reached him. All he saw was the man with the black briefcase, slipping through the crowd toward the back.
  • Darren’s chest tightened. His pulse was in his ears as he trailed after him. The man pushed into the restroom, and Darren hesitated at the door before dragging himself inside.
  • The room was tiled, harsh fluorescent light humming overhead. The man was already at the sink, sleeves rolled up, water running as he washed his hands. The briefcase sat carelessly beneath the sink, almost glowing in Darren’s eyes.
