Chapter 11 Broken Hope
- She stared at the door Darren had left through, its heavy metal frame now seeming thicker, stronger, more final than before. Her chest heaved as though the walls themselves were closing in, pressing the air out of her lungs.
- She buried her face in her hands.
- The tears came fast, hot, and merciless. Sobs wracked her body, the sound muffled in the crook of her arms. She hated herself for crying, for giving him the satisfaction if he was still listening outside. But she couldn’t stop.
