Chapter 54 The Fire Aftermath
- Jim Nitti stood at the wide glass window of his bedroom, overlooking the riverfront. From here, he could see the faint glow of flames still burning in the direction of the Highfit’s dock warehouse. His phone buzzed again on the desk, but he ignored it. The reports had already come in, an explosion, property loss.
- He turned slowly, hands clasped behind his back, his shiny silk pajamas catching the light. The lampstand glowed. His wife half-asleep under the sheet.
