  • The hours crawled by in heavy silence, every tick of the clock a reminder of what awaited them. Each piece was checked, adjusted, and placed back in the bag as if the order itself was part of the plan.
  • Nina moved around him, folding dark clothes into a neat pile. She glanced up. “What if we had someone inside? An intel who could tip us when Horace’s men leave for their pickups? It’d save us the risk of waiting.”
  • Darren shook his head, firm. “We don’t wait on anyone. We park close but out of sight. When they start their rounds, we move. If we wait for them to leave completely, the window closes too fast. But if we hit while they’re distracted, it buys us time.”
