Chapter 46
- Hunter
- I didn't intend to snap at her. I was pissed, and she came at the wrong time. I needed nobody's sympathy. Rose is the last person I would want to see my weak side. Somehow, the few days we spent together have ignited something in me which I least expected. Somehow, her presence affects me. I know I said I have nothing to do with her, but it was a lie. My mind kept bringing me back to square one. It kept reminding me of her—her smile, her voice, and most especially the way she stood her ground and said whatever is on her mind without fearing me. I know my heart is already yearning for her, and I'm afraid it's getting deeper day by day.
- A hiss left my lips as I slouched on my bed, hugging my forehead with my palms. I can't think straight. I have a problem full on my plate already. I'm close to getting Bennett, and I've sent a warning to Nathaniel. He should be alert that I can come at him any moment. I know every little secret of his, how he works with businessmen. I'm gathering enough evidence. He should wait for his downfall. The same with Uncle—I've planted a spy to watch every move of his. I didn't know it would be that easy to buy Sir Paul, Uncle's most trusted person. Sir Paul knows Uncle like the back of his hand. He knew one day Uncle would turn his back on him, so why not find a way for himself before it happens?
