• The taxi came to a halt in front of the giant black gates. I paid him his fee and ventured my way out, looking around the surroundings. The area was secluded. No single being could be seen anywhere. I spared my phone screen a glance, checking the message Ian sent me. Since Hunter is taking me as someone who is capable of nothing, I will surely show him my own kind of capability.
• I walked up to the gate and knocked on it as there was no sign of any doorbell. Silence greeted me. I knocked for the second time, receiving the same treatment. I gently pushed the door and it slightly opened. My brows creased in question. How can they leave the gates open? What if someone broke into the house—a thief or, much worse, a kidnapper? I thought as I slowly made my way inside.
