Chapter 80 The Lady Of The Tower

  • My eyes settle on the tray in front of me, and I begin to eat eagerly. The taste of the chicken is at least delicious, satisfying my hunger after several hours without a bite. Once I finish, I set the tray aside and quietly stand up, moving toward the door to try to glimpse the outside. My curiosity grows as I attempt to listen for any indication of what’s happening outside the room.
  • Cautiously, I try to turn the doorknob, but to my disappointment, it’s locked. Determined to get some clue about my whereabouts, I crouch down and try to peek through the narrow crack in the door. The little I can see through it is a bare wall stretching in front of me, probably belonging to an inhospitable hallway. The lack of details and the worn appearance of the house lead me to think I’m in some remote and abandoned place. The uncertainty about my exact location increases, leaving room for the possibility that I’ve been taken outside the city.
  • I silently curse myself for trusting Ryan; however, I find it hard to believe he’s involved in my kidnapping. Ryan had never shown himself to be someone capable of stooping so low for money. My thoughts also drift to my friend. I wonder if she has realized that I’ve disappeared. From what that idiot Ryan said, I assume Adrien already knows I’m being held against my will. I wonder what that woman demanded in exchange for letting me go. Although, will they even let me leave?
