Chapter 54 The Heart On The Scales
- I see Will signaling a taxi as we stand in the middle of the crowded street. The noise of the cars and the background music blend into a cacophony that mingles with my confused thoughts. With a trembling hand, I cling to his arm as we approach the vehicle. The city seems to blur around me, as if I were looking at it through a fogged-up glass.
- Finally, the taxi stops, and Will gently helps me get in. I settle into the back seat, and a sense of daze washes over me. It might be the effect of the alcohol intensifying in my body, or perhaps it’s the shock from receiving that unexpected message. My mind clouds over, and I feel a whirlwind of emotions swirling inside me: confusion, worry, and a twinge of fear.
- As the taxi glides through the illuminated streets, I remain lost in my thoughts. I refuse to believe I’m going through this once again.
