Chapter 37 The Hottest Night

• It took me a few minutes to decide to pursue Adrien; despite knowing that would leave my revenge plans in limbo, I simply needed to be with him. I go out into the hallway to head to the other room, where I imagined Adrien would be. The night air is gelid, so I wrap my arms around myself, looking for relief from the cold that pierces me.
• I enter the room, my heart pounding rapidly. Upon noticing the light on, I quickly realize that Adrien is not there.
• I don't hear his approach until I feel his breath brushing against the back of my neck.
