Chapter 45 The Beginning Of Deception (Two)

• Victoria got off the phone and turned to smile at her new friend, Jessica, who was sitting nearby with an eyebrow raised, as she waited for her to get off the phone and tell her what the conversation was about. They were in an apartment that Jessica owned, or had rented, Victoria was not sure which one it was, but she did not really care. As long as she could stay here free of charge, she did not give a flying fuck if the apartment had fallen from the skies.
• “Well?” Jessica said impatiently when Victoria only stood there smiling like a fool. As she had known, Victoria had been too drunk to remember her name two nights before. She had not even panicked when she had woken up and found herself in a strange apartment with Jessica. In fact, what she had done was to check out of the run-down hotel in which she had been staying since she ran away from the wedding. She had then moved into Jessica’s apartment … the one that Charlotte had gotten for her. Right now, she was wearing one of Jessica’s t-shirts and apparently considered herself to be Jessica’s best friend. Jessica was not sure how she was going to explain Victoria’s presence to Charlotte if the latter ever found out, but she did not plan for Victoria to stay here long enough for that to happen.
