• That night, Carol slept in Sebastian's room and in his arms. After he got back from Sacramento, he had told her everything about his visit there and how Jessica was. According to what he told her, Jessica was not really aware of her surroundings, but she seemed to recognize people that she knew before, and that was a good sign. The doctor was hopeful that she would go on to make a full recovery and even identify her attackers in no time.
• "Oh, that reminds me, I was thinking of going to visit her. I don't think that it speaks well of me that she has been in the hospital for the length of time that she has, and I've not yet gone to see her." Carol told him, not mentioning that it was Melissa who had brought this to her notice.
• "That's nice. I'll inform the guards to let you see her. I left express instructions with the guards that no one was to be allowed access to her unless I gave permission."
