Chapter 12

  • Aiden didn't ask me anything. He drove us home without saying a word. I tried to calm myself down too. Seeing my dad reminds me of all the harsh things they all did to me. He is my father, but he can't even fight for me. Not once did he even check on me. Yes, I know he hates my guts right now, but the least he could do as a father was to check on his daughter, but he never did.
  • I know his second wife is the one controlling him. Dad was never like that when Mom was alive. From what I can remember, he was a loving father. He loved me so much, but then he brought her into the house. He brought in another woman, and that's where my problem started. My life hasn't been the same since then. What more can I do? The best choice I've ever made was to leave that house for them. It's the best thing ever. I've never felt so good like I did when I left that cage called home.
  • Then, seeing them now only makes my blood boil with anger. It reminds me of those things I thought I'd forgotten. I heaved a sigh. "You know you can ask me anything," I said to Aiden, who still wasn't saying anything. We were almost home.
