Chapter 5 – Forgive & Forget

• “What?! No! I don’t want!” Cendrick said firmly to her.
• Two days after that night, Mhia met him. But she didn’t expect his response.
• She was breaking up with him for the very first time.
• “And may I know why? Is it because you know I’ll always forgive you whenever you make a mistake? Is that it?” She was expressionless while he was in deep remorse. She had never seen Cendrick like this before. Maybe because he knew she will always forgive him.
• Tiffany was right; she was the reason why he kept hurting her. Because she tolerated his mistakes.
• “No! That’s not it. I love you. And I’m—”
• “Love?” She laughed with tears streaming down her face. “You call it love when you constantly hurting me? Is that it?” She shook her head. “You didn’t love me, Cendrick.”
• He paused and couldn’t respond. He just stared at her as if he was looking at a stranger.
• “You can’t answer because it’s true,” Mhia said, choking back a sob. She quickly wiped away the tears that fell from her eyes. “I endured your lies for so long. I always forgave you because I hoped that you would change. That eventually, you’ll realize how important I am to you. But I was just fooling myself. Because no matter how much I hoped, what I wished for will never happen!” She stood up quickly and grabbed her bag. She didn’t want to stay any longer in that restaurant, as she might become weak again.
• However, Cendrick blocked her path faster. He immediately knelt in front of her.
• “I’m sorry, Mhia. I’m so sorry. I promise, this time, I won’t do it anymore. I will not deceive you anymore. It will be just you from now on. Please…” He took her hands and held them tight. “Please, don’t do this to me. I’m begging you,” he pleaded.
• She was stunned into silence. She didn’t expect him to do that, especially in front of so many people. At that moment, they were the center of attention in the restaurant.
• “Please, Mhia, for one last time, give me another chance. I’ll make everything right this time, just don’t leave me. Don’t disappear from my life. I love you so much, Mhia…” He looked up at her with teary eyes.
• She stared at him for a long time. She glanced away before focusing her gaze back on Cendrick.
• “Please, Mhia…”
• She sighed. It might be foolishness, but she still loved Cendrick. So, she gave him a gentle nod.
• “Yes!” He stood up quickly and hugged her. “Thank you, Mhia! I will never hurt you again, I promise,” he whispered. He also kissed her cheek.
• She smiled. Despite the doubts in her heart, she would still try to take a chance. Maybe this time, he would change. That’s all she was waiting for.

• Skyler could only shake his head; from a corner of that restaurant— while watching the happy couple dine. He couldn’t understand what happened earlier, but seeing how the guy begged the woman, it seemed like he did something really wrong to her for her to give herself to him.
• Right. He couldn’t understand himself either, but he ended up stalking the woman. Since he found out where she worked, she only stirred up his already troubled mind even more. He couldn’t erase her from his memory, as if her image was deliberately stuck in his mind.
• He was still mending his broken heart. Adreianne died in that blast two years ago. Only her burnt body returned to him, which he almost didn’t recognize. Plus, she also had bullet wounds in various parts of her body.
• Many died in that mass shooting and explosion. It was an act of terrorism in his view, which was refuted by the authorities. They claimed there was a malfunction in the pipeline of a restaurant there, causing the explosion. The mass shooting, on the other hand, was explained as the work of a rebel group, and the bodies were caught in the explosion.
• However, even if he didn’t believe the authorities and conducted his own investigation, nothing would change. He couldn’t bring his wife back to life. And he couldn’t accept that. Never. That’s why he decided to temporarily entrust his company to his trusted executive. He filed for an indefinite leave. And he couldn’t say when he would return.
• He glanced back at the woman and the man with her. He felt odd. But perhaps, among all the women he had been with, she was the only one who remained innocent. It boosts his self-esteem. However, he realized she loved someone else, just like he still loved Adreianne.

• He sighed. He sipped his wine. He finished everything inside the glass before refilling it and drank again. Then, he stood up and left the money on the table.
• As he left the restaurant, he headed straight to a bar. Perhaps he just needed someone new to be with.
• Upon entering the bar, his eyes immediately went to the bar counter. Same as before, he sat at the corner while waiting for his prey. It didn’t take long for a woman to approach where he was. She sat on a highchair there.
• He quickly glanced at the woman. She looked seductively hot. Like any other women in that bar, she was wearing a black skirt and top. Her midriff was exposed, and the skirt she was wearing barely covered anything. It was obvious she wasn’t wearing a bra based on the prominent outline of her mounds. It quickly aroused him.

• The woman stood up. Then, she slowly walked towards him.

• He smirked as she leaned in closer, brushing her lips against his, while her hand grazed his thigh.
• She bit her lower lip before drinking. Slowly, she swallowed it, which made her look more desirable.
• “Thank you. . . for this,” she said. Her eyes roamed around his face, then to his exposed chest. He saw how her eyes sparked while staring at him. It was as if she wanted to kiss him right there and then. “Wanna take a ride with me?” she asked when her eyes landed on his.

• Without saying a word, he stood up and looked at her meaningfully. When he got out on the hallway of the bar, he went straight to the men’s restroom. He purposely didn’t lock the door. While smiling, he leaned on the wall. After a few moments, he heard a slow-sexy footsteps. The person he was waiting for took a peek inside the bathroom. He immediately pulled her in and closed the door.
• “I like your tast—” Her words cut in half after he immediately claimed her lips like a hungry beast. The woman responded to the same intensity. Their tongues fought like in sword fight, and no one wanted to back down.
