- “Mhia!” her grandmother, Gloria, exclaimed as she stepped out of her car. She almost stumbled in her hurry to approach her.
- “Nana!” She hugged her tightly. “I missed you!” she said.
- Her grandmother released her from the hug. She ran her hand over her back. “It’s good that you decided to come home. I thought I’d have to fetch you in Manila,” she said, slightly whining.
