Chapter 42 042
- The next couple of days were a blur, and Chase could barely bring himself to take a break with all the things that needed his attention. Even worse, Ella seemed to have become distant, so distant that he barely recognized the woman she was becoming.
- She was colder, quieter, and didn't particularly pay much interest in how he handled their affairs. This shouldn't have bothered him; he was getting the calm and obedient woman he wished for her to be, but something ate at him, something that he chose to ignore.
