Chapter 27
- Morning came far too quickly, its golden light spilling through the windows and stirring me from a restless sleep. My body ached from tossing and turning, and though I willed myself to remain calm, unease churned deep in my stomach. Today, I was scheduled to meet with Lucas, the King of Beasts—a man whose very presence could unsettle even the most confident soul.
- I dressed hurriedly, pulling on the plain tunic and trousers that marked my station. My hands trembled as I laced up my boots, and I had to pause to steady them. There was no reason to feel so nervous, I told myself. This was merely a routine task. Yet, the memory of Lucas’s piercing gaze and commanding voice from the previous night lingered like a shadow in my mind coupled with the kiss from last night.
- Don't know why I can't take it off my mind, maybe because I like that I got a kiss from the almighty Lucas.
