- Lucas took another step back, his heel colliding with the front door, halting him with an audible thud. His jaw tightened, and I moved toward him again, fury simmering beneath my skin. I wasn’t enjoying this little power play he’d taken upon himself—not when everything was unraveling between us.
- “I have an entire kingdom to care for, and you put it all at risk just to hurt me,” he snapped, arms crossing firmly over his chest like a fortress I suddenly had no access to. “If you want to lash out, then stab me in the hand with a fucking fork. Burn down everything I hold dear. I could survive that. I’d understand that.” His voice cracked slightly before sharpening again. “But not this. Not you trying to sabotage everything we’ve built, just to prove that you’re angry.”
