- “Lucas, stop!” I laughed breathlessly, half amused and half exasperated as I braced my hands against his massive, fur-covered chest, trying in vain to push him away from the mattress.
- His body, impossibly large in his wolf form, barely budged under my touch. Thick tufts of dark fur tickled my palms as I shoved against him. He seemed entirely unfazed, his long canines clamped stubbornly around the edge of the bedding, holding it in his jaws like a dog guarding a prized chew toy.
- “You may be happy sleeping on the floor, but I’m not,” I said with a groan, trying once again to yank the mattress away from him. My efforts were met with a soft but deliberate growl that rumbled deep in his chest, vibrating through the floorboards beneath us.
