Chapter 136

  • The journey to the beach was filled with the sound of laughter and chatter. The twins, Harry and Harriet, were bubbling with excitement, eagerly pointing out every interesting sight along the way. Mina and Enzo were busy discussing the best spots to set up their picnic, while Grannie and Gramps debated over which beach games they should play first. The lively atmosphere made the long drive feel much shorter.
  • Selena, however, was a bit different. While she joined in on the conversations and even teased Harry and Harriet about their enthusiasm, there were moments when her focus shifted entirely to her phone. She'd scroll through it, occasionally typing something before quickly locking the screen and holding the device close, as if it was something precious or perhaps even dangerous.
  • Amelia noticed this first, her gaze lingering on Selena’s tense expression whenever she wasn’t engaging with the group. She shot a glance at Sebastian, who had also picked up on Selena’s behavior. Their eyes met in silent understanding, both agreeing without words to let it be—for now. Whatever Selena was keeping close to her chest, it wasn’t something she was ready to share.
