- The hum died.
- One second, the air was vibrating with the energy of a hundred automated weapons. The next, there was only a profound, deafening silence that rushed in to fill the void. The red lights of the turrets flickered once, then went dark.
- Anna slumped back from the console, her breath fogging the inside of her visor. “It’s done,” she gasped. “The grid is down.”
