Chapter 13
- The silence in the warehouse was louder than any scream. It was a cold, heavy thing, broken only by the ragged sound of Voss’s breathing from where he lay tied to the pillar. Kael, beside him, just stared at me, a snake-like smirk playing on his lips.
- Mark wouldn’t stop moving. He paced the length of the warehouse, his hammer swinging loosely in his hand. “This is a mistake. A goddamn mistake.”
- He stopped and pointed the hammer at me. “We should have ended it the second you broke his arm. A bullet is clean. This? This is just waiting for the other shoe to drop.”
