Chapter 28
- The scream wasn’t from one of us. It wasn’t one of Kael’s men. It was a sound I hadn’t heard in weeks. The sound of a civilian. A survivor who had been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
- We all froze in the dim light of the pumping station. Ash was at the main door instantly, pressing his ear against the cold steel, his body a coiled spring of lethal tension.
