Chapter 31

• The sound of Kael’s army was a rising tide of shouts and gunfire, echoing from the main tunnels, getting closer with every passing second.
• “They’re here,” Ash said, his voice a low, calm report from his position at the entrance to our side corridor. “And they’re coming in force.”
• We were in position. The plan, as monstrous as it was, was in motion. Ash and I were in a narrow maintenance shaft that ran directly above the fungal farm. Below us, through a rusted grate, we could see the eerie, green glow of the Glow Worms and the frantic movements of Kael’s men as they prepared for their final assault on the pumping station.
