• “We’re trapped!” Lily screamed, her voice a high-pitched, hysterical sound that was almost lost in the blare of the lockdown alarms.
• The generator room was a cage of flashing red lights and screaming sirens. All around us, massive steel shutters were slamming down, sealing every door, every window, every possible exit. We were caught in the heart of Kael’s fortress, and the walls were closing in, a metal fist tightening around us.
• “This is a fucking deathtrap!” Mark roared over the din as he scanned the room for threats, his eyes wild. “Reese set us up! She sent us in here to die!”
