- A beam of pure force slammed into the asphalt where Lily had been standing a second ago, turning it to molten glass. The concussive blast hit me like a physical fist, throwing me and Ash to the ground behind the burned-out husk of a sedan.
- “Shit!” Ash roared, his voice a tinny buzz over the radio in my helmet. “Turret! Bank roof, second story!”
