Chapter 9 A Special Contract

  • Cecilia struggled to keep her trembling under control as she braced herself and looked directly into Bella's eyes, the eyes of someone who reminded her of the devil.
  • "L-Let me warn you right now. If you still want to make a living in this industry, let me go now and apologize to me!"
  • "Apologize? To you?" Bella repeated as if Cecilia's request was a joke. Her fingers then exerted some force, and a strange cracking sound that sounded like bones cracking echoed from Cecilia's chin.
  • Cecilia's legs wobbled, and her thin heels, like her mental fortitude, crumbled.
  • She collapsed to the floor, her hands clutching her cheeks and her eyes wide with terror. I… I can't feel my chin!
  • "Miss Talley?" John had just exited the elevator and was taken aback when he saw what was happening. Then, he quickly approached Bella and asked, "Are you okay?"
  • Bella nodded and gave Cecilia, who was in a daze, a sidelong glance. "I'm fine. You should check whether she's all right."
  • Hearing that, he furrowed his brows slightly as he raised his gaze to look at Cecilia's assistant. "What are you waiting for?" he asked.
  • The assistant quickly regained her composure and assisted Cecilia in standing up while expressing concern.
  • Cecilia, on the other hand, simply stared fiercely at Bella with hatred in her eyes. At the same time, she felt helpless because she couldn't feel her chin at all.
  • Her assistant noticed this too. She cast a fearful glance at Bella before requesting some staff to rush Cecilia to the hospital.
  • Bella checked her watch after Cecilia, the troublemaker, had left.
  • It was now 2:01PM, which meant she was late.
  • She made a grunting noise, then turned around and asked John, "Did Mr. Fowler send you here?"
  • "Nice to meet you, Miss Talley. I am Mr. Fowler's assistant." John took out a name card, politely handed it to Bella, and continued, "Mr. Fowler is waiting for you. Please come with me."
  • They then entered the elevator, which took them to the highest floor.
  • The moment Bella entered the president's office, she heard Aaron say, "You're three minutes late."
  • Being a stickler for punctuality, being late this time was a massive failure for her.
  • "I'm sorry. I was pestered by a mad dog earlier and that took me some time."
  • "A mad dog?"
  • Aaron looked at John, who explained calmly, "That's Cecilia."
  • Cecilia was Aaron's cousin.
  • As such, Aaron went silent for a while when he heard that before telling John, "You can get back to work now."
  • After John left the office, Aaron went nearer to Bella and asked, "Did Cecilia make things difficult for you?"
  • "Who is she to do what?" Bella said with a mocking smile. Then, she removed her sunglasses and sat casually on the couch to the side, seemingly drawing her distance from Aaron.
  • "Let's discuss the contract. I'll be upfront. Apart from Aarla Entertainment, other companies want to be my agency company as well."
  • "Really?"
  • Aaron didn't seem bothered in the least. He simply walked to his desk and took the document he had been reading earlier.
  • "Furthermore, their terms are better than Aarla Entertainment's," Bella continued. Since they were all doing business, she naturally had to get the best benefits for herself.
  • "So, Miss Talley, you're here to renegotiate the terms of the contract, not to sign it?" Aaron appeared surprised, but this was entirely within his expectations.
  • At that, Bella turned her head to face him. "This is me being honest. Is there anything about Aarla Entertainment that deserves my special treatment?"
  • He smiled lightly as he shook his head and went closer to her. Then, he bent down and looked her in the eyes, asking, "Isn't our relationship enough for my company to be treated differently?"
  • They were so close that they could feel each other's breaths.
  • However, Bella managed to keep her cool. "It's working hours. Do you really want to talk about something unrelated, Mr. Fowler?"
  • "Of course not." Aaron stood up and handed Bella the document he was holding. "Take a look at this. You'll be pleased with it."
  • She took it and began reading, her expression gradually changing from uninterested to surprised. "Interesting."
  • "This is a contract tailored specifically for you," Aaron said, his smile revealing that he had everything under control.
