Chapter 7 I Hate Being Watched

  • A few days later when Aaron arrived at the company, his assistant gave him a document regarding Bella.
  • "I've investigated Miss Talley's identity. In theory, she's indeed Kingsley's eldest daughter; she went missing when she was young and wasn't found until four years ago."
  • Four years ago? Aaron grinned as he looked through the document. Wasn't that the time Nelly went abroad all of a sudden? Is there such a thing as a coincidence? I don't think so. No wonder all information was erased when I found that Nelly had gone abroad. It turned out that Kingsley had covered her tracks.
  • "Get to the bottom of it. I want to know everything about her time spent abroad these few years."
  • "Okay."
  • Aaron set the document down before he questioned, "What has she been doing for the past two days?"
  • "Miss Talley's been looking for a house, but she hasn't found a suitable one."
  • "She's looking for a house?" Aaron felt slightly ill at ease.
  • Bella left the villa he had arranged for her in a free and easy manner, but the signing procedure took longer than expected because of the search for a home.
  • Unconsciously, he sensed that if the delay persisted, it might lead to more issues.
  • He briefly tapped on the table as he ordered, "Find all suitable houses in Riverside Neighborhood."
  • Aaron would then pick a house for Bella.
  • On the other side, when Bella got back to the hotel, she collapsed onto the couch in exhaustion.
  • She had initially thought that a day would be enough to help her find a house, but it took many days instead. She had only recently returned to the country, so it was only natural that she still needed some help.
  • "Mommy, have some water." Sebastian came over with a glass of water.
  • Bella suddenly felt less worn out.
  • However, Samuel interrupted her right after she had drunk some water, saying, "Lovejoy Company invited you again. Also…"
  • "Also?"
  • "They found you a house. It's a coastal villa."
  • "What?" A coastal villa?
  • When Bella turned her head to the computer screen, she noticed a few prominent images of the villa, which was situated in a stunning natural setting.
  • "Wow, Mommy! This place is amazing!" Sebastian brightened his eyes. He seemed to like it very much.
  • Bella pursed her lips. "You sound like you can't wait to retire already."
  • She struggled to find a suitable home mostly due to the two children's schooling situation.
  • A coastal property looked nice, but it did not appear to be in a neighborhood with nearby schools. It was better suited for retirement.
  • "I appreciate Lovejoy's kindness, but I…" Bella looked at the bright screen with a somewhat icy gaze.
  • "I hate being watched."
  • I'm sure they want to keep an eye on me since they suddenly offered me this at such a critical moment.
  • "Well, I just turned them down for you." Samuel behaved as if he had known all along.
  • She lifted her eyebrows. When her eldest son displayed his scheming side, whether on purpose or by accident, she felt somewhat helpless.
  • Wonder whom he took after.
  • Bella's phone rang at that time. It was a call from a person who claimed to be a property agent.
  • With lovely furnishings and convenient transportation, the residence the agent proposed was in the heart of the city. The most important factor was that a renowned private kindergarten was right next to the house.
  • After Bella went and checked out the house the next day, she signed the housing contract with the property agent without any hesitation.
  • She was slightly doubtful before she left. "You weren't the one who called me yesterday, were you?"
  • It's because they sound very different.
  • The property agent was a little taken aback. "Uhm… That person is most likely in charge of getting in touch with the clients. We don't work in the same department."
  • Only then did Bella become relieved.
  • She had just been back to the country, so she did not have many things with her. Right away, she moved into the new house with her two sons that afternoon.
  • Aaron's call came.
  • "Can you come and sign the contract now that you're all settled in?"
  • Bella was stunned as she asked gloomily, "Mr. Fowler, how did you know I've settled in?"
  • He discerned a tinge of vigilance in her tone, but he did not panic at all. "You've moved into a new house, haven't you?"
  • "Yes." She sounded aloof as she interrogated him, "I'm just wondering. Mr. Fowler, are you watching me too?"
