Chapter 50

• Kane
• He looks around, and everyone is sound asleep in the living room of Delaney’s apartment. Even Declan, who he’s convinced doesn’t sleep, fell asleep in the recliner. He glares at Wilder because he’s snoring so loudly that he’s surprised anyone else is still able to rest. He looks over at Ella, whose legs are tied now too, and she’s staring at the wall blankly, but not saying anything or trying to free herself. He sits up and pushes himself to lean on his elbow so that he can appraise Celeste’s resting form. She’s bundled up under a blanket, her brow furrowed as if she’s having an unpleasant dream.
• He reclines on his side, and he can’t take his eyes off of her. Her long hair is hanging down around her shoulders and she has one of his hoodies on with his last name printed across the back in gold. That alone does things to him he never thought he could feel. This is it right here, she’s his future, and he’s going to do whatever it takes to make her see that. They’re going to be just like this in fifty years, and he’ll still be looking at her because she’s the most beautiful thing he’ll ever see.
