• “Do you know your wife is a whore? Or is that another Westbrook secret that’s been swept away like my brother’s death and the attempt to kill Celeste?” The room audibly gasps, and Talon’s father’s face pales as if he’s seen a ghost. “You think you’re invincible, Mister Blackwell, but you’re sorely overestimating your family’s contributions to this college,” he says when he’s regained his composure.
• Kane walks over to stand directly in front of him. “I don’t give a shit about this school. Your son is going to stay away from my girl, or I’m going to bury him next to my brother. No questions asked, isn’t that the unspoken rule of Westbrook? No bad publicity, right?” His voice is low and serious. “So if I were you, I’d tell him to leave her the fuck alone.” Talon's father grits his teeth, looking up at him with so much anger that it makes Kane laugh. “It’s been a pleasure speaking with you, Mister Sanderson.” He takes a page out of Declan’s book, clapping Coach on the shoulder as he moves to walk back over to Celeste.
