Chapter 25

• Kane
• Kane woke up to Celeste touching his face, and when he cracked open an eye to look down at her, she smiled and cuddled closer in her sleep. She had been irate when she realized that he had twenty freshman Kappa Alphas move her stuff over to his room after she left. Kane thought she knew it was a lost cause to argue with him, and eventually climbed on her side of the bed and passed out. He lasted probably a half hour of listening to her breathe, until he finally gave in and pulled her over to his side of the bed. It amazed him how well he slept when she was next to him, but he'd never admit that to her. Kane reached up to rub his fingers through her dark hair and then gently tugged her up for a kiss. She moaned against his lips in her sleep, and he had to fight the urge to roll her on her back and climb on top of her. He told himself he was going to stay away from her, and here he was acting like a lovesick puppy.
• She settled back against him with her head on his chest, and he lay there holding her, trying to think if there had ever been a moment in time when he felt this calm, or this satisfied. Kane was attracted to Celeste the moment he saw her; after all, she was gorgeous. But that wasn't what made him crave her. She was strong enough to call him on his bullshit but soft enough to calm him down when he was close to snapping. She was smart, too smart to put up with him. He had heard that from Blaine too many times to count. His lip twitched at the thought; Blaine really hated the fact that she wanted Kane as much as she did, but he didn't smile. Instead, he pressed a kiss into Celeste's hair, and she sighed against his skin. Her hand slid down his chest to his stomach, then back up to rest over his heart.
