Chapter 6 Him

  • It was another Monday and throughout the week I kept on thinking about Jackson and all the things that could have happened if I had went with him to his place and if another girl ended in his bed that night and I also felt stupid for not telling him my name, he had no clue on how to reach me but then again if he wanted to reach me he could have asked for my number right? Did he not think I was worth pursuing? Huuuuh!!! Everything was confusing.
  • “Thinking about Friday night?” Lily asked startling me , why would she think I was thinking about Friday night?
  • “Why do you ask?” I asked instead, I find it easier to dodge questions than outrightly answer them.
  • “Because your facial expression is changing from goofy to frustrated with a slight smile to a frown.” Oooh, I didn’t realize that. Something about the way I did my face must have made her laugh.
  • “Don’t worry, you might run into each other.” She tried to reassure me and I just nodded. Might is still a probability and what happens when we see?
  • “Okay love doctor, I need to get to my first class now.” I playfully rolled my eyes as I watched her laugh at what I called her.
  • After six hours of lectures I was finally done for the day and no I wasn’t lucky enough to see Jackson and it made me wonder if he was looking forward to seeing me again. Goodness, I should stop thinking about him now.
  • “Could you please come to the bookshop with me? I want to grab some books.” I was walking with another of my friend Daisy, yeah that’s two of my friends that’s named after flowers.
  • I didn’t want to go to the bookshop because I was tired but she was asking nicely and we were going home together so I had no choice. “Sure.” I said letting out a small smile as we walked in the direction of the school bookshop.
  • We entered the bookshop and she went ahead to find the books she needed while I lazily followed her watching as people came in searching for the books they needed. I started feeling out of place as I just stood watching others and pretended to search for a book going to the aisle that had politics written on it. I had no interest in politics or buying a book on it but I appeared to look interested as I searched books pretending as if I was trying to find a particular book until a heavy book from the top shelf fell on my head and boy did it hurt. I felt like I was going to have a serious headache after this, how could a book just fall on my head like that? I was really annoyed as I rubbed my head while groaning in pain. If it so happens that a person was the cause of this they were about to get a earful.
  • “I’m sorry, the book slipped from my hands.” His voice sounded euphonious. He sounded apologetic like his comforting voice was supposed to take the pain away and it was probably working.
  • I couldn’t say anything as I stared at his lips, he had luscious lips and a small smile was threatening to escape, he was definitely watching me staring at them and the thought made me slightly embarrassed as I quickly turned my gaze to his face rather than just his lips and oh my gosh he is breathtaking. Jackson was good looking no doubt but this guy staring at me was handsome. Everything about his face was attractive, his eyebrows, his hair, it was dark blonde and short but styled in a way that made his facial features more prominent like his chiseled cheekbones and strong jawline and his eyes, goodness his eyes, they were pulling me in and I wanted to drown in the sea of his ocean blue eyes, his nose was so perfect and his lips, his lips looked like they could make a girl moan from just a simple peck.
  • “Are you alright? The book falling on your head didn’t make you loose your memory did it?” He sounded amused. I guess I looked dumb staring at him for how many seconds now without saying a word.
  • “No but it’s definitely going to give me headaches.” I retorted as I found my voice. Just because he’s handsome doesn’t mean I’m going to go sweet girl on him and not give him a earful.
  • “I’m sorry about that.” Oh my god he has British accent, why am I just noticing that now? He spoke so gentle as his hands found its way to my hair as he gently stroked it and everything I wanted to say left my mouth. It was soothing and I was barely feeling the pain. I closed my eyes as I focused on his hands on my hair and how peaceful this moment felt and tried to remember when last someone stroked my hair and remembered that no one has because I barely let anyone near me but here this stranger is stroking my hair and even though it was to supposedly take the pain away it felt more than that. It felt comforting, affectionate and a lot other things that I was probably imagining and something a complete stranger wasn’t supposed to make me feel.
  • I inhaled his scent as his hands found its way to my waist as he pulled me closer to him. One hand was around my waist and the other on my hair as he continued stroking my hair. My head was now resting on his chest and I noticed that the height difference wasn’t that much. I’m proudly 5’7 and he was definitely taller like 6’2 but not in a way that was fiercely domineering. He smelled like oud, he smelled fresh, he smelt so pleasant and satisfying like chocolate cake and how I felt happy at the sight of it and how yummy it tasted when it reached my tongue. I know I should probably push him away and ask him what he thought he was doing but it felt comfortable and familiar.
  • “Renae,” I heard Daisy call out my name and I jumped as my eyes snapped open and I felt Mr stranger jump too, was his eyes closed as well or I just startled him?
  • I wanted to take one last look at him and commit him to memory as I hurried over to where Daisy stood but I knew that there was no way that I would be forgetting his face or this moment anytime soon.
