• I sat on my bed, staring blankly at the wall as I tried to process everything that had happened. Darien had told his guards to shut me out, to tell me he was busy and couldn't see me. It was like a punch to the gut, a harsh reminder that I was still just an outsider in this pack.
• I thought back to our argument earlier, to the way Darien had looked at me with such anger and frustration in his eyes. The way he walked out on me in an intimate state I had known he was upset, but I had no idea he was this upset.
