Chapter 40

• Tristan slowly opened his eyes. Gathering all his awareness, he then straightened up his body. Not forgetting to raise both hands, he tried to stretch his stiff muscles.
• Spending the night sleeping on the sofa was not as comfortable as sleeping on a bed. Glancing at the clock on the wall, he found it was already six in the morning. Tristan quickly turned towards the bed. There, he saw Olivia, hunched over with her hands still tied to the bedpost.
• Tristan took a deep breath several times. Closing his eyes, he immediately remembered the heinous acts he had intentionally committed against his wife over the past few nights. A pang of pain gripped his heart. But unwilling to dwell on it, Tristan tried to push away those feelings. Choosing to get up quickly and walk towards the bed. Sitting down on one side of the bed, he opened the bedside table to take out a bottle containing red pills.
