- The evening sky was a deep shade of blue, speckled with the faint glow of stars. A soft breeze rustled the leaves of the trees outside, carrying with it the faint scent of rain. Jane sat on the small patio behind the Castellano house, a steaming cup of tea in her hands. It had been a long day—longer than most—and she’d come outside to clear her head.
