Chapter 79

• The small diner was nearly empty, save for the low hum of conversation from a couple in the corner booth and the clatter of dishes from the kitchen. Angelo sat in the back, a cup of coffee untouched in front of him as he scrolled through his phone. His expression was grim, his fingers tapping impatiently on the table. When the bell over the door jingled, Angelo looked up to see Rafael enter, his sharp eyes scanning the room before making his way over.
• “You found something,” Rafael said, sliding into the booth across from Angelo.
• Angelo nodded, leaning forward. “Yeah. And it’s worse than we thought.”
