Chapter 13
- Maya paced back and forth in the living room, her arms crossed tightly over her chest. Jane sat on the couch, watching her with curiosity and growing concern. Maya had been acting jittery ever since returning from the wedding, and it wasn’t like her to keep things bottled up. Jane set her mug of tea on the coffee table and leaned forward.
- “Alright, spill,” Jane said, breaking the silence. “You’ve been acting weird since you got back. Did something happen at the wedding?”
- Maya hesitated, her pacing slowing to a stop. She ran a hand through her hair and sighed. “It’s… complicated.”
