- After they had returned to the castle, everything felt strangely distant. Chloe couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. It was as though Kael had built a wall around himself. They had shared so many intimate moments, and yet now, when they were back in their home, it was as if the space between them had grown.
- Kael would linger at a distance, his gaze heavy but never quite meeting hers. At times, he would sit across the room, absorbed in his thoughts, and though they shared a bed, his touch felt less assured, as though he were afraid of something.
- It confused Chloe. Wasn’t this the man who had declared his love for her yesterday? Wasn’t he the one who had promised to stay with her? Now, he seemed to be holding himself back, distant and reserved, as though she wasn’t the one he wanted to hold onto.
