• Kael’s footsteps echoed through the dimly lit corridor as he made his way back to his chambers. The weight of the Court's opposition to his wedding still hung heavy in the air. He could hear their voices, their doubts, and their anger, but he refused to let it break him. He had promised Chloe and he would stand by her, no matter what.
• He was so focused on his thoughts that he didn’t notice Astrid trailing behind him until he reached his door.
