Chapter 2
- Chloe stood at the edge of the cliff, the wind whipping her hair into a frenzy as she gazed out at the vast expanse of nothingness before her. She felt just as empty, just as void of purpose. Her heart was shattered into a million pieces, her soul crushed beyond recognition.
- "How could he do this to me?" she whispered to the wind, her voice barely audible.
- Aiden, her mate, the man she had given up everything for, had rejected her on their wedding day for her closest friend. The memory of his words still seared her mind like a hot branding iron.
- "I reject you Chloe Solace as my mate. I'm sorry I can't do this. I'm sorry Chloe. I can't marry a wolfless woman. It would be a disgrace and a stain to my honor and dignity"
- The betrayal had cut deeper than any knife ever could.
- Chloe closed her eyes, the tears streaming down her face as she took a step forward, ready to end it all.
- But just as her foot hovered over the edge, a strong hand grasped her wrist, pulling her back and holding her waist tight.
- "Let me go!" Chloe struggled, but the grip only tightened.
- "Never," a deep, gravelly voice growled. "You're not going anywhere, little one."
- Chloe's eyes snapped open to find a towering figure looming over her, his eyes blazing with intensity.
- "Mate. She's our mate. She's ours." Kael's wolf growled.
- "Who are you? And would you please let go of me" she demanded, trying to wrestle free.
- "The one who's going to save you from yourself," he replied, his voice dripping with a sinister charm. "My name is Kael, and I'm the Alpha of the Dragon Sky Pack."
- Chloe's eyes narrowed. "Dra---gon ss--sss--ky pack?" Chloe stammered as her body shivered with fear.
- The pack has been known to have a powerful Alpha and dark magic has been practiced for thousands of years in the kingdom.
- Chloe's mind raced as Kael's words hung in the air like a challenge. She didn't know what to make of this stranger, but something in his eyes made her hesitate.
- "Why did you save me?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
- Kael's gaze burned into hers. "Because, little one, I cannot let you waste your life like that. Death shouldn't be an option for a beautiful woman like you." He whispered deep into her ears.
- Chloe's heart skipped a beat as Kael's words resonated deep within her. She got mad at him for saving her life. Where would she start from? She had to run from her kingdom after she supposedly gave her lover her kingdom. A Luna who became a rogue and an outcast in her kingdom.
- Chloe shook her head. "It's not okay. You shouldn't have saved me. There's no reason for me to live. My whole life has been a lie everyone I've ever loved either dies or betrays me. You should have let me die." Chole wept.
- Kael's smile turned deadly as he cleaned her tears and pulled her close to him. "Then live for me."
- And with that, Chloe knew her life would never be the same.
- ***Three days before***
- Aiden, the son of the Beta of Night Walker Kingdom, and Chloe an orphan who became the Luna of Night Walker Kingdom at a young age were childhood friends. When they were young, she fell in love with him when she went to the royal garden and he was staring at the flowers in the garden but since they were friends, she couldn't confess her feelings.
- Aiden was a very handsome man. Tall with dark hair and eyes, and a well-chiselled chin.
- Ever since she saw him in the garden she hasn't been able to take her eyes off him.
- She was always a shy girl because her pack never accepted her. She always liked staying indoors until Lydia and Sam forced her to take a walk and she saw Aiden there.
- Lydia forced her to speak with him, to confess her feelings and he accepted immediately which made Chloe very happy. They started dating becoming the cutest couple ever.
- From walking under the moon at night to seeing each other in secret as Aiden didn't want anyone to know about them yet.
- Chloe had prepared a lot for this. Her bright blue robe and her shoes all screamed royalty. She had given up her position as the Luna of the Night Walker Kingdom so that Aiden could protect her and he would make her his Luna.
- Things were going to be alright with her and she wouldn't be lonely anymore. Little did she know what was going to happen to her that faithful day.
- Aiden eyes, once full of love and adoration, now gazed at Chloe with disdain and contempt. He stood tall, his voice dripping with malice as he addressed her at the Pack ceremony.
- "I reject you Chloe Solace as my mate. I'm sorry I can't do this. I'm sorry Chloe. I can't marry a wolfless woman. It would be a disgrace and a stain on my honor and dignity. I can't bear to have wolfless kids like you."
- Chloe's heart shattered into a million pieces as Aiden sharp words pierced through her heart.
- "You were nothing but a pawn in my game, Chloe. A means to an end. And now that I've achieved my goal, I no longer need you."
- From the moment her only female friend came in as the bride to when her pack was chanting.
- The pack, once her family, now turned on her, their faces twisted in scorn. Chloe's world crumbled around her as she stumbled backward, alone and rejected.
- Chloe's heart sank as the guards dragged her down to the damp, dark dungeon. The stench of mold and despair filled her nostrils as they threw her into a cold, bleak cell.
- "Alpha Aiden's orders are to keep you here until the Pack council decides your fate," one of the guards sneered. "But we all know what that'll be." He shrugged.
- "A death sentence. Two Alphas can't rule a kingdom."
- Chloe's mind raced as the door clanged shut behind her. She had never imagined that her love for Aiden would lead to this. She thought she had found her mate, her partner, her everything. But it was all a ruse.
- As the days passed, Chloe's hopes dwindled. She was left with nothing but the darkness and her own thoughts. She wondered if anyone would ever come to her rescue or if she would rot in this cell forever.
- One day, the sound of footsteps echoed outside her cell. Chloe's heart skipped a beat as the door creaked open. A figure entered, shrouded in shadows.
- "Queen Chloe, I'm here to help you," a low, gravelly voice whispered. "But you must trust me."
- "Sam." She whispered weakly.
- "Use this to escape," He whispered. "Meet me at the old oak tree in the forest. I'll help you get far away from here."
- Chloe's heart raced as she took the key. She waited until nightfall, then used it to unlock her cell. She crept through the familiar dark corridors, avoiding guards and making her way to the forest.
- The old oak tree loomed before her, its branches like outstretched arms. The mysterious figure waited, cloaked in the shadows.
- "Follow me," He said, leading her through the treacherous terrain.
- Finally, they reached a small cottage on the outskirts of the kingdom. The figure pushed open the door, revealing a cozy interior.
- "You're safe now," he said, pulling back his hood.
- "Sam" Chloe said, pulling him in for a hug.
- "Why, why, did you help me?" Chloe asked with tears threatening to fall.
- His eyes softened. "Because I've been betrayed and I know what it means to be betrayed, my Queen, and I also know that you, my Luna do not deserve any of these."
- "You must leave my Luna," Sam said.
- "You're not coming with me?" She asked with tears.
- "I can't, my Queen. You have to leave now please leave," Sam said pushing her forward.
- Chloe cried knowing that the only person who had actually been honest and true to her was her personal guard, Sam. She cried knowing she might never see him again.
- She cried because her kingdom now belonged to a guy like Aiden. She wept because there was no reason left to live and she cried knowing this was going to be the last tear she would ever shed because she was going to end it all...
