Chapter 7 Choosing A Profession, Sudden Attack
- The final profession that was provided was called mindweaver. This profession allowed the holder of the profession to be able to control the psychic abilities.
- The psychic abilities included telekinesis, mind control, mind perception and so on. As for how powerful these abilities could be, it mainly depended on the power level of the owner of this ability.
- Of course, holding this profession did not allow someone to be able to have all these abilities at the same time. Instead, one would start with the telekinesis ability. And after that, the profession would need to level up, before they can attain yet another ability related to this profession.
- Philip went through all the professions, taking his time to make a decision. Since he could not change the profession as long as he had selected, he had to be sure about the choice that he made.
- Thinking about the situation at the moment, he possessed an extraordinary ability, which allowed him to be able to extract attributes. And, this was something that was not related to the screen that was in front of him.
- And thinking about that, he thought about his attributes. And in the next moment, the screen that was displaying the professions suddenly changed, showing his information.
- [Name: Philip Matthews
- Age: 22
- Class: N/A
- Exp: 10/10
- Constitution: 7
- Strength: 10.04
- Speed: 7
- Agility: 8
- Magic: 0
- Skills: N/A ]
- The moment that he looked at the information, he only focused on the strength attribute. It was only at this point that he realized that somehow, his strength attribute had increased by 2.04!
- Philip was momentarily stunned. All this while, he had not been required to use his full strength, and so, while he was getting stronger, it was difficult for him to be able to clearly tell just how strong he had gotten.
- Considering that before the apocalypse, his strength was at 8 points, he had basically increased the strength attribute by ¼. This was quite astonishing.
- Of course, the extraction ability did not randomly extract attributes from the creatures that he killed. Instead, it seemed that with each and every kill that he made, the number of attribute points that he could extract reduced.
- That implied that if he killed any more zombies, having already killed 16, by the time that he got to 20 kills, he would no longer be able to get more attribute points from the zombies.
- But this was not something that he needed to worry about. After all, he somehow understood that he could only kill a maximum of 20 creatures of the same level as himself but of a different race, and acquire attribute points from them. Anymore and he would not acquire any.
- This kind of restriction, it was something that he did not like. But what could he do? If there was no such restriction, he could simply go on a rampage. He could just wait to level up, then start killing low level zombies.
- Regardless, after looking at the information that was displayed, Philip was slightly satisfied. At the same time, he understood, the strength that he acquired through the attribute points extracted from the zombies that he had killed did not cause any imbalance.
- His body immediately adapted to the sudden increase in his strength, which allowed him to have control over his strength. Otherwise, with such a sudden increase in his strength, it would have definitely caused chaos if he could not control it.
- Leaving this matter aside, when it came to selecting a profession, Philip began wondering what to do.
- He immediately eliminated the warrior profession. It would be better for him to focus on a single path, rather than mixing it up. While the warrior path allowed for versatility, sometimes, just having enough strength was way better than being versatile.
- If he could end something with just a single punch, why would he need to use many methods? That was just wastage of time. So, it was better for him to be stronger, rather than have many methods. That was his personal opinion on the matter.
- The berserker profession was also eliminated. There was no need to think much about it. Philip was not willing to experience the side effects that would come with this profession.
- The paladin profession was eliminated as well. This profession mainly required the collaboration between himself and the others. Philip did not want to depend on others, wanting to have the strength to protect himself.
- While the paladin profession would allow him to have the strength to protect himself, that was only against weaker opponents. He did not know what would come with this apocalypse, other than the dangers that had already appeared.
- For that reason, Philip was not willing to put his life in the hands of someone else. It was advantageous to be able to heal and do all the other boosts, but Philip was not tempted with this profession.
- Comparing the mage profession and the elementalist, obviously the mage profession was eliminated. While the elementalist profession was just like the warrior profession, Philip had another method of getting stronger.
- As long as he could acquire attribute points, he would be able to get stronger in terms of physical strength and other physical attributes. So, if he could manipulate other elements, the only thing that he would need to improve would be the magic.
- With strong magic power, he would be able to control stronger elements. And, he could just focus on a single element, though this profession allowed the possessor of the profession to be able to control all the elements, without any bias as long as one had strong enough magic.
- In simple terms, as long as he had strong magic, he could use a very powerful fire element skill. Then in the next moment, he could change it to a water element skill, or maybe another element’s skill.
- But, Philip did not make a choice directly. He went ahead and eliminated the swordsman profession. He was not so fond of using swords. As a kickboxer, he liked using his body more. It was just that in this apocalypse, he was at a disadvantage when dealing with the zombies.
- Nevertheless, he felt quite uncomfortable thinking about wielding a sword to deal with zombies. It would be better for him to just bash the heads of the zombies and be done with it. Who knows, maybe the head of the zombie would continue biting someone even if it was decapitated from the body.
- The archer profession was just the same as the warrior profession. Philip was not comfortable with attacking from a distance, and liked more dealing with the enemies directly. So, it was also eliminated from a possible choice.
- With all the eliminations, Philip only remained with the warlock profession, shadow warrior, elementalist, and the mindweaver professions.
- He was contemplating, which of these professions was he supposed to select. For the warlock profession, he could just select the mage path to be the primary path. After all, with the attribute extraction ability, his strength and other physical attributes would not lag behind.
- As for the Shadow warrior, the ability to be able to manipulate shadows was quite amazing to think about. Additionally, if he could sneak behind the zombies and bash their heads in, it would be better, right?
- Moving inside a city, there were shadows everywhere. Using the shadows to his advantage, he would be able to do many things.
- The advantages of the elementalist profession had already been mentioned above. Finally, there was this profession, the mindweaver.
- The abilities of a mindweaver could be used both as primary and support during attacks. That was especially for the telekinesis ability. The ability of manipulating items was something that was quite fascinating.
- And in the situation where he was facing a large group of enemies, this ability could be used. Moreover, it could also be used as a trump card. In a situation where the enemy was not expecting, he could use the telekinesis ability to attack.
- Philip was hesitating on which profession to select. Each of these professions had their own advantages and disadvantages.
- After thinking, Philip finally made a decision. He decided on a profession that would be compatible with the attribute extraction.
- From his understanding of this ability of his, he would be able to extract different types of attributes from the enemies that he killed. So far, he had only acquired the strength attributes from the zombies that he had killed. A total of 16 zombies had already been killed, granting him a total of 2.04 attribute points for the strength attribute.
- In the future, if he began gaining other attribute points, it would allow him to be able to balance things out. It was only a pity that he was not given the ability of assigning the attribute points himself. This way, he could just focus on something, and make up for any weaknesses where needed.
- [You have selected the mindweaver profession. Are you sure?] [Y/N]
- Philip did not hesitate to select the yes. He had already decided, he was going to go with the mindweaver profession.
- When Philip selected the profession, another wave prompts appeared.
- [Assigning the profession. You have gained the class, mindweaver.]
- [You have acquired the telekinesis ability. At level 1, the range of the telekinesis ability is 1 meter.]
- [To upgrade to the next level of the profession, you will need to rank up, and fulfill other conditions. The conditions will be revealed when the required rank is achieved.]
- [Leveling up successfully completed. Congratulations on officially starting the journey of evolution. You have successfully leveled up to level 1. + 5 to all attributes, +10 free attributes that can be freely assigned.]
- Philip felt a warm sensation washing over his body. At the same time, he felt his strength increasing all of a sudden, but other than that, he felt that his speed, reflexes and other physical attributes had increased as well.
- But even more, he felt that his mind had become sharper, and his thought processing had also increased. He immediately thought about the information panel, and the screen in front of him changed.
- [Name: Philip Matthews
- Age: 22
- Class: Mindweaver Level 1

- Constitution: 11
- Strength: 15.04
- Speed: 12
- Agility: 13
- Magic: 30
- Free Points: 10

- As expected, everything had increased by five points. But there was something that he realized was different, magic. Initially, it was zero, but now, it had increased to a staggering 30 points. From being the lowest, it had suddenly become the highest.
- Bang!
- Philip was just observing the panel in front of him, when suddenly, he realized that something was wrong. But even before he could react, the car that he was in was suddenly hit by something from the side.
