Chapter 1 The Apocalypse

  • A young man with black hair and an ordinary appearance was sitting by a stream, his eyes staring listlessly at the small fish swimming around in the water.
  • While he was staring, his mind was completely somewhere else. He was still thinking about the conversation that he had, just a few hours ago with his girlfriend, rather, ex-girlfriend.
  • “Why? Why do you want to break up with me?”
  • “I will be honest with you Philip. All this time, I had no choice but to be with you. I was only using you as a shield, so that people can know that I have a boyfriend, to make sure that they don’t disturb me. But truthfully speaking, I have never really loved you.” She said while looking at him indifferently.
  • “Then, all the past 2 years, they were all for nothing? I thought that you could tell that I love you. I have been sincere with you all this time, are you sure that you don’t have any feelings for me?” He asked.
  • “Unfortunately that is the case. But I will have to say one thing, I really like the way that you act, being honest and loyal. But I’m afraid that we cannot be together.” That was the last thing that she said before turning around and leaving.
  • While she did not say something very harsh, and neither did she cheat on him, but the feeling of being played for 2 years was not something good. He had dedicated his heart to her, but in the end, she did not care about it.
  • Just coming to know about it, looking at those indifferent eyes looking back at him as she said those words, it completely hurt him.
  • Coming out this time was not because he wanted to commit suicide, it was just that he wanted to calm himself down. He felt that if he continued focusing on what had happened before, he might go crazy and do something that he might end up regretting later on.
  • “Ha!”
  • Philip exhaled heavily, before standing up. At the moment, his emotions had calmed down, at least he was feeling slightly better as compared to before coming over here.
  • Regardless, he understood that it would take quite a long time for him to be able to ever trust any other girl, and think of falling into any other relationship. After all, this was his first relationship, and all that he ended up getting after all the dedication, was a nasty heartbreak.
  • Philip simply shook his head, trying to think of other things instead. He understood that this was part of life, and life would not stop moving on just because she left him. Rather, she was never with him to start with.
  • Placing his hands behind his head, he looked at the sky. But it was then that he noticed something strange. The sky was currently cloudy, which was something that he had noticed quite some time before.
  • But, why did it look like the clouds were turning bloody? It was as if the clouds were currently being soaked in blood.
  • Philip quickly rubbed his eyes, trying to make sure that he was not seeing things. But even after confirming several times, he realized that things were just the way he had seen them. The clouds above him were turning red.
  • “The heck?! Is the world coming to an end now? Or is there a mad scientist somewhere who has done something crazy? Are they trying to end the world?” Philip muttered in a low voice, as a slight frown appeared on his face.
  • Just as he was wondering about what was going on, he suddenly felt the ground beneath him beginning to tremble. At first, the trembling was nearly ignorable, but as time went on, the intensity of the ground trembling increased.
  • “Damn! Don’t tell me that the world is really coming to an end?!” Philip was completely startled, as his heart began racing.
  • The trembling of the ground only gave him a single possibility, an earthquake. It was not strange for earthquakes to occur, considering that over the years, many earthquakes had occurred. But combining the earthquake and the bloody clouds above, things were definitely not normal.
  • ‘I better get out of here as fast as possible. I need to get somewhere safe.’ Philip thought to himself. He understood the consequences of an earthquake, and what might happen.
  • So, he decided to find somewhere where there were people, so that in case of anything, maybe someone can save him if he was unlucky. So, he immediately began rushing out of the small forest that was not far away from a park. He was heading directly towards the park, as there were quite a few people there enjoying themselves or relaxing.
  • But he had only taken a few steps when suddenly, things changed once again. The ground was no longer trembling, as if the earthquake would not occur in the next moment.
  • But that was not the focal point. At this moment, Philip suddenly felt his blood pressure suddenly rising. At the same time, he got the feeling of someone who had been kicked in the gut.
  • His eyes nearly popped out of their sockets from the pressure, and the feeling of nausea overwhelmed him. Had it not been for the fact that he had not eaten anything until now for the past few hours, he would have definitely vomited everything that he had eaten before.
  • Regardless, the feeling of wanting to vomit, but having nothing to vomit was so excruciating. So, Philip collapsed onto his knees, with his hands on the ground. He was trying to bear with what was happening, when something else happened.
  • For some unknown reason, he felt his emotions fluctuating. He felt like he wanted to kill someone. And considering that he was currently emotionally unstable, Philip nearly went mad. He almost wanted to rush and find the girl who had played him, and kill her with his own hands.
  • Still, having experienced many things in his life, he was able to use his will to be able to suppress all these emotions. And as he did that, he suddenly felt that the pressure that he was experiencing was actually disappearing.
  • The moment that it disappeared, Philip began gulping for air. It was only at this moment that he realized that he was nearly suffocating.
  • Philip wondered, what was that? What was happening? Was it really the end of the world? Was this something that only he was experiencing, or others were also experiencing it?
  • Numerous questions popped up in his mind, but he could not get any answers. Still, the feeling that he had experienced moments ago was unforgettable, making him not understand what was going on.
  • About an entire minute later, Philip finally managed to calm himself down. After taking a few deep breaths, he finally decided to leave this place first. He needed to see other people, to know if he was the only one who was experiencing this, or others had also experienced it.
  • He put his thoughts into actions, as he immediately began rushing towards the park. That was the place that currently had quite a number of people. While this park was not the most popular in the city, the number of people would sometimes exceed 100.
  • In just a matter of about 3 minutes, with him moving at a jogging speed, Philip finally approached the park. But as he approached it, he could not help but frown.
  • The reason behind this being that he could hear screams coming from the direction of the park.
  • “Why are you biting me? Have I done something wrong?”
  • “Zombies! There are zombies!”
  • “You are a lunatic! Just because I rejected your proposal, you are biting me?”
  • “Murder! Someone is killing people here!”
  • Zombies? Was it real? Or was it that a group of people was shooting a movie in the park?
  • Philip felt his heart racing as he thought of the possibilities, especially considering the sky that was still the same, and the experience that he had gone through just a few minutes ago.
  • Philip immediately stopped in his tracks, not sure if he should continue moving forward, or if he should just return home.
  • And while he was hesitating, something that shocked him happened. In front of him, something like a holographic screen suddenly popped up. This made him to stumble backwards, as the appearance of this screen was so sudden that it shocked him.
  • But the thing that shocked him even more was that it seemed that this screen was glued to his eyes. No matter what direction he looked at, he only saw the screen. He was nearly losing his mind from this.
  • A few seconds later, when nothing happened, Philip finally realized that there were words that were on the screen that was floating in front of him.
  • When he focused on those words, he realized that it was something like a profile.
  • [Name: Philip Matthews
  • Age: 22
  • Class: N/A
  • Constitution: 7
  • Strength: 8
  • Speed: 7
  • Agility: 8
  • Magic: 0
  • Skills: N/A ]
  • The information that was displayed on the screen was exactly his information. This was something that made Philip wonder, who was it that had made this screen appear in front of him.
  • It was at this moment that suddenly, a huge amount of information appeared in his mind.
  • “The apocalypse has descended. The creatures of this world will have to fight for survival. To survive, you have to kill…” Philip stated slowly, as those were pieces of the information that had appeared in his mind.
  • Roar!
  • The sudden inhumane roar brought him back to his senses. He looked towards his right, and saw that there was a person that was charging at him.
  • Even though the speed of the other party was not that high, but the distance between the two of them was short, and Philip had not even noticed when this other person appeared close to him.
  • Instinctively, Philip dodged to the side, rolling, barely managing to dodge the person that had lunged at him.
  • “Hey, what’s up with you? Do I know you?” Philip asked, a frown etched on his face.
