Chapter 2 Extraction Ability
- In response to the question that he had asked, the person who had just missed the target charged at him again. But considering that the other party was moving around stiffly, Philip was able to easily dodge.
- He then created a gap between the two of them, while looking at the person that was still rushing towards him with a frown on his face.
- Philip was slightly confused. He was wondering, were people crazy these days? After all, this was the first time that he was meeting this person, but it seemed that this guy wanted to beat him up.
- Additionally, what was up with this guy’s speed? He was so slow, even though he did not seem injured at all. Looking at the clothes that he was wearing, it was clear that he had not experienced any form of accident at all. Maybe he was like this from the start?
- “Hey, if you continue like this, I will have to retaliate. Even though this is a world where we have to follow rules, I have the right to retaliate if you continue attacking me.” Philip threatened as he continued increasing the gap between the two of them.
- Roar!
- Instead of receiving a proper response, all that he received was a roar from the other party, as he continued charging at him, trying to grab him.
- It was also at this moment that Philip noticed the peculiarities about this person. First of all, he was acting like an animal, considering the inhumane roar that he was giving out.
- Other than that, looking at the face that was currently twisted almost beyond recognition, and those gray eyes, Philip immediately realized that something was wrong. Gray eyes, without any pupils…
- If this was a normal situation, and he was not being besieged, Philip would have definitely thought that the other party was blind. But that was clearly not the case, as this person get on following him no matter where he went.
- But considering the information that had appeared in his mind, together with the few events that had occurred not long ago, Philip understood something. A zombie! This was actually a zombie, and it wanted to eat him!
- “Sh*t! What kind of luck is this? The apocalypse has just started, and I’m encountering a zombie right here? I don’t even have a weapon with me.” Philip cursed as he once again dodged the creature that had nearly grabbed him.
- He was not new to the concept of a zombie. Apart from watching movies and series about zombies, he had also read novels. So of course, he understood what zombies were. But, he was not ready to apply the knowledge that he had acquired from those movies in real life.
- Who knew if what he had seen in those movies was actually real? Though, one thing that he noticed was that, the speed of this zombie was slow. This was actually in line with many of the movies that he had watched before.
- Phillip looked at the zombie that was charging towards him once again, and immediately prepared himself. The moment that the zombie reached to grab him, using his reflexes, he managed to dodge to the side.
- At the same time, he delivered a kick towards the knee of the zombie. He did not hold back when attacking, considering that this was not a person, but a zombie.
- Crack! Bang!
- Having participated in kickboxing competitions since middle school, Philip could be said to be quite adept at fighting. So, it was easy for him to be able to spot the weak-point of the knee, before striking it.
- The zombie heavily collapsed onto the ground due to the strike. Not daring to waste any time, Philip went ahead and looked around, seeing that there was a stone not far away from where he was.
- While he was good at fighting, this was a zombie, not another human. While he did not completely trust the information that was in those movies and novels that he had read before, he had to be cautious.
- So, he went ahead and picked up the stone that was slightly large, in that it did not fit in the palm of his hand. By estimation, it weighed about 5kg.
- Without any hesitation, he immediately attacked the zombie that was currently trying to struggle back to its feet. He directly targeted the head. It was not only because of the rumors about the head of the zombie being the weakness, but also because the head was one of the weak points of the humans.
- As long as he cracked the skull of this thing, Philip did not believe that it would not die. So, using all his strength, while maintaining a distance of about 1 meter, Philip hurled the stone at the head of the zombie.
- Bang!
- Since the stone was not too heavy, Philip was able to precisely hit the head of the zombie. Due to the force applied, the skull of the zombie was actually cracked open, stunning Phillip slightly.
- White brain matter and blood was immediately splattered around, with some of it landing on Philip. He instinctively wiped away the drops that had dropped on him, while looking at the headless corpse on the ground that was no longer moving.
- He took several deep breaths, trying to calm himself down. This was the first being that he had killed, and although it was a zombie, it looked like a human.
- The smell of blood and the white brain matter that had spread all over the ground after the head of the zombie had been burst made him feel nauseated. The feeling of wanting to vomit once again came back to him, but he had nothing to vomit. He could only try to hold himself back, holding back the feeling of nausea.
- He took a few deep breaths, finally feeling slightly relieved. He then observed the body of the zombie on the ground. He had not anticipated that it was going to be quite easy for him to be able to deal with the zombie. Additionally, it seemed that the head of this zombie was quite fragile, right?
- Otherwise, it would have taken him quite a few attacks in order to be able to actually completely crush the head over human to this extent. Regardless, since the zombie had already been dealt with, Philip finally felt relieved.
- But at this moment, as he was observing the body of the zombie on the ground, he noticed something. A small ball of light, the size of a marble, floated out of the body of the zombie.
- After coming out of the body of the zombie, this small light did not go anywhere, but instead, it continuously hovered above the body of the zombie.
- Philip frowned slightly, trying to think about the information that he had received about the apocalypse. But no matter how much he thought about it, he could not remember any information about what was happening here.
- Philip was not sure about what was going on, and so, he observed cautiously. He did not dare to approach, in case this was yet another method of the zombie to attack.
- While the information that he had received in his mind contained many things about the apocalypse that they were facing, it did not state the methods that zombies used to attack.
- So, Philip was extremely cautious, as any slight mistake might end up with him losing his life.
- But even after waiting for an entire minute or so, nothing happened. This light continued hovering above the body of the zombie.
- Curiosity got the better of him, and Philip began approaching slowly. Though, his muscles were currently tense, ready to retreat in case of anything.
- But even after he had approached to less than 50cm away from that light, nothing happened. After taking a deep breath, Philip extended his trembling hand towards the light. He was not sure why he was doing this, but he just felt that this light attracted him.
- The moment that his finger came into contact with this light, like a drop of water that had been dropped into the desert sand, this light actually sunk into his skin.
- Instinctively, Philip pulled back his arm, before trying to shake off the light. But no matter what he did, nothing happened, as the moment that he came into contact with this light, it had already disappeared beneath his skin.
- Still trembling, Philip brought his left hand close to his face, to observe it. But he did not know this anything different, considering that his hand was just the way that it was before. He tried feeling any form of change in his body, but he did not notice any.
- But it was at this moment that a warm sensation suddenly erupted within his body. Philip felt quite comfortable experiencing this.
- At the same time, information suddenly appeared in his mind once again. But instinctively, Philip could tell that the source of this information was completely different from the one that had appeared with the information about the apocalypse.
- {You have acquired +0.2 strength.}
- Subconsciously, Philip thought about the holographic screen that had disappeared a few moments ago, immediately after he received this information in his mind.
- [Name: Philip Matthews

- Class: N/A
- Exp: 1/10
- Constitution: 7
- Strength: 8.2

- Skills: N/A ]
- Philip’s breathing suddenly grew heavy. His information had changed, and his strength had actually increased by 0.2. Additionally, physically, he could also feel that he had truly grown stronger.
- At the same time as he realized this, another piece of information appeared in his mind. And in just a few moments, Philip understood.
- “An extraction ability. As long as I kill a creature that is of the same level as myself or higher, I can obtain attribute points randomly. The higher the level of the creature killed, the higher the number of attributes that I can acquire…” Philip muttered to himself, while trying to calm the excitement that he was feeling at the moment.
- “Damn! Leave me alone! You have already killed my wife, why are you still chasing after me? Aaah!”
- The desperate shouts coming from a few meters away suddenly reminded Philip of the fact that this was the apocalypse, and he was not safe.
- “Damn! I better get going!” Philip exclaimed under his breath, before immediately rushing away.
- But at this moment, the same voice that had shouted before suddenly sounded again. “Little brother, help me deal with this guy. If you do, I will give you $1,000!”
