• After returning to Lockhart Digital, I found it nearly impossible to focus on anything remotely work-related. My instincts were on high alert, blaring a warning I couldn’t ignore. Meeting with Renzo was a gamble I knew could cost me everything, but avoiding him might've been even riskier. The silence from Theron only made matters worse, stoking the embers of my anxiety until they flared into full-blown dread. By the time I walked into the penthouse, I was a wreck barely holding herself together.
• I rushed through a quick shower, reapplied my makeup, and slipped into a dress that struck a careful balanceele gant, not too revealing. My phone never left my side, just in case Theron decided to call. He didn’t. Of course, he picked the worst possible time to vanish into thin air.
