Chapter 57 Take Over
- “Since it’s unfortunate for you all,” Kael said, voice flat and cold, “my wife can pick any dress she wants. After all, she owns the entire place now.”
- The clerk’s fingers stopped mid-air over the terminal. Mr. Bricks’ face went from red to a pale, controlled white. For a second the only sound was the printer sighing out the receipt.
- Mr. Bricks’ lips thinned. He looked at the clerk, then at the printed slip, then at Kael. The old man’s hand tightened on his cane in a way that said he could crush someone if he wanted, but not today. “This isn’t over,” he ground out. “You got lucky. A machine doesn’t change the law.”
