Chapter 15 Assassination Attempt
- Kael’s room smelled faintly of whiskey and rain-soaked leather. The dim light from the street outside stretched in thin bars across the wooden floor, the soft hum of the city barely reaching this high up. He was still holding Liora’s wrist, his grip loose but warm, as if even in his drunken state he wasn’t ready to let her walk away.
- She swallowed, trying to keep her voice steady. “You’re drunk, Kael.”
- He chuckled “Drunk? Liora… I’ve been worse.” He leaned against the wall, the shadows hiding most of his face. “But this” his voice cracked slightly, “this isn’t the right place to kill Razen.”
